What will you do to flip the Senate?

We have a monumental opportunity this year to shield Washington state from the chaos of the Trump administration. We can elect Manka Dhingra (D) and flip the Senate. We can empower our state to protect immigrants and other marginalized communities. We can preserve reproductive rights and healthcare access. We can expand workers’ rights and ensure economic gains go to everyone, not just the 1%. We can defend the environment and fight climate change. We can establish a true blue state where all people are valued and no one slips through the cracks. But we can’t do it without you. As...

2017 Special Election is Key to Democrats Taking Back the State Senate

45th District Democrats Endorse Manka Dhingra for Senate Redmond, WA: On Wednesday, April 5, the membership of the 45th District Democrats unanimously voted to endorse Democrat Manka Dhingra for their State Senate seat, up for special election this fall. Before calling for a vote, Endorsements Chair Dave Williams informed the crowd “Manka shares Democratic progressive values down the line” and “Since announcing in mid-February, she’s raised about $200,000, virtually all of it through individual donations, and none from corporate or PAC interests.” The meeting room filled with cheers and applause as the final tally to endorse the Senior Deputy Prosecuting...

Levy for emergency radio network to appear on April 28th, special election ballot

A special election is being held throughout King County on April 28th to decide whether to approve a property tax levy to fund the replacement of the region’s emergency public safety radio network. The 45th District Democrats do not have a position on this measure, King County Proposition #1. However, some of our neighboring Democratic organizations have spoken out in support of Proposition 1. The 47th District Democrats support a yes vote and the executive board of the 31st District Democrats recommend the same. Two opportunities to support Move King County Now (Proposition 1)

Friends, as you may recall from our last meeting, there is a critical transportation measure on the upcoming April 22nd special election ballot. A coalition of progressive organizations is working together on the Move King County Now campaign to pass Proposition 1. The 45th has also officially endorsed this transportation package. Due to funding shortfalls, King County Metro is facing devastating cuts to bus service — 74 routes would be eliminated and another 100+ would be reduced. These cuts will harm students, seniors, workers, and families across the Eastside who rely on the bus system. Losing these routes will also...

Remember to vote Yes for our schools by February 11th, 2014!

Many of us received our ballots in the mail today for the February 11 special election. At our last meeting, we voted unanimously to endorse ALL school levies and bonds for all school districts in the 45th. Almost one-quarter of school funding in our communities comes from levies and bonds. These votes are critical investments in our kids, our families, and our future. We encourage everyone to vote YES and APPROVE on all school levies and bonds in this election. To lend your support to the YES campaign in the Lake Washington School District, visit the yes campaign’s website. After you’ve mailed...
