Minutes for the June 3, 2026 General Meeting—DRAFT

The General Meeting of the 45th District Democrats of Washington State was
held online on June 3 at 7:01 pm, with Chair Aaron Schrader and Candice Bradley
as secretary pro tem.

Presentations

Kamil Zaidi (kamilxaydee@gmail.com; 425-979-9183), talked about increasing meaningful engagement with local tribes. Sam Cho, Commissioner of the Port of Seattle, presented slides focusing on the sustainable airport master plan. Kaira Havens, in the national pollical update, discussed the Citizens’ Impeachment Slush Fund. Stacey Doerr reviewed the Endorsement Forum results and directed members to the website.

Updates from elected officials included Redmond City Council member Menka
Soni; Redmond City Council member Vivek Prakriya who mentioned the
moratorium on drones; and Vaneeza Malik, intern for Manka Dingra speaking on
her behalf. Endorsed candidate Vanessa Kritzer talked about her campaign for
state representative.

Business

  1. Aaron Schrader appointed Candice Bradley as secretary pro tem.
  2. Quorum was met with 21 PCOs online.
  3. The consent agenda was adopted without amendment.

  4. Endorsements from the Endorsements Committee were voted on and adopted as follows:
    • Supreme Court, Justice Position 1, recommended Colleen Melody with 22 votes all in favor.
    • King County Prosecuting Attorney, recommended Leesa Manion with 26 votes all in favor.
    • Initiative IL26-638 opposed with 25 votes supporting the recommended No position.
    • Initiative IL26-001 opposed with 25 votes supporting the recommended No position
  5. Recommend Precinct Committee Officer (PCO) votes for the 2025-6 biennium.
    • Status update on approved and declined applications.
    • Recommended applicants voted upon: Peter Clift (absent); Cary Gibson (14/14 to recommend); John Saeger (15/15 to recommend); Charles Dold (15/15 to recommend); Jim Good (recommended with 10 in favor, 2 opposed).

Officer and Committee Reports

  1. Chair:
    • Executive board meeting Monday, June 22 @ 6:30 PM, online only.
    • Regular general meeting Wednesday, July 1 @ 7:00 PM, online only.
    • State convention June 19-21.
  2. Treasurer’s Report read by Aaron Schrader.

    • Analysis of the 2025 election season with input from its candidates.
    • Public comments made to Redmond City Council on tenant protections.
