45th District Democrats to reorganize on January 7th, 2015

One week from today, we will be reorganizing the 45th District Democrats for 2015-2016. The reorganization will take place at the same time and in the same venue that we hold our regular monthly membership meetings: 7 PM on the first Wednesday of the month (January 7th), at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center. Please plan to attend our reorganization meeting – especially if you are a precinct committee officer, because you are the representative of dozens of Democratic households in your neighborhood. If you’re not there, your neighbors end up going unrepresented. As the name suggests, the purpose of...

Seattle Times publishes editorial tailor-made for Andy Hill’s campaign to use in a mailer; 45th LD’s state committeeman responds

The following is the text of a letter to the editor submitted by 45th LD State Committeeman Andrew Villeneuve in response to an editorial criticizing Matt Isenhower’s advertising. Editor, The Times: Before advising voters to “set aside the spin coming out of your TV and dig into the facts”, the Times ought to get its own facts straight. Thursday’s anti-Matt Isenhower editorial – which was immediately turned into a mailer by Andy Hill’s campaign – is a fine specimen of revisionist history. The editorial neglects to mention that we came dangerously close to a government shutdown at the end of...

The Stranger enthusiastically endorses the 45th’s nominees for Legislature

This week, The Stranger (Seattle’s most widely read alternative weekly) released its endorsements for the 2014 midterms. The Stranger Election Control Board – or SECB for short – offered ringing endorsements of the 45th’s nominees for Legislature. Here’s what they had to say about Matt Isenhower, Larry Springer, and Roger Goodman: State Senator: Matt Isenhower Sick and tired of Washington State’s ass-backward tax structure? Fed up with the underfunding of education and transit? Us too, as you may have heard, but we gotta wrest back control of the state senate from Republicans to do anything about it. Matt Isenhower—an Amazon...

Thank you for a great 2014 Eastside Dinner!

On behalf of the 2014 Eastside Democratic Dinner organizing committee, I’d like to thank everyone who participated in the continuation of this great joint event to benefit the Democratic district organizations of the Eastside. We had a great turnout this year and actually sold out of our seating a couple of days before the event! We were able to accommodate all walk-ups, thankfully, due to the generosity of several Democratic activists who had purchased tickets in advance but were not able to attend. We are also grateful to our speakers: Dave Ross, our master of ceremonies, U.S. Representatives Suzan DelBene...

The 45th’s Endorsements Committee recommends Rick Leo for King County District Court, NE Electoral District, Position 3

The following is the text of the 45th District Democrats Endorsement Committee’s recommendation for King County District Court, Northeast Electoral District, Position 3. All three candidates for this position, individually, qualify for our endorsement, but after much discussion the majority of the committee recommends Rick Leo for this position. Not only has Rick had extensive experience in all three disciplines of defender, prosecutor, and pro tem judge, he gets that he is a public servant and understands that the people coming before him are regular citizens who are often intimidated by the court process. In talking with Rick, it came...
