Message from the Chair

Thank you to all the volunteers of the 45th legislative district; thank you for your hours and your dollars. As Democrats, we appreciate it all. We made just under $55,000 at the recent Eastside Democrats fundraising gala. Thank you to all who bought tickets and contributed. We will have enough funds to put out our Endorsement Guide before the November General Election – always an informative and well-received publication.

It is now time for us to think of meeting indoors and in person sometime in the coming months. The accessibility survey from the Outreach Committee needs more participants to accurately portray what membership wants and needs. Please take it.

Thank you to the Outreach Committee for putting on the monthly Think & Drink meetings together with Tara Van Niman; May’s meeting with Manka was like a dinner party talk – inspirational yet actionable. Outreach pushed out the boat, bringing in freshman candidates who want to be the freshman class of our city councils, while still keeping the incumbent officeholders who produce results in their rightful place. Thank you again to the Endorsements Committee, particularly Chairperson Kraig Peck.

The Volunteer Committee, together with committee chairs, will be rolling out opportunities for you all to have an option of being together as a group – inside or outside – in small manageable groups, many that had the joy of getting to know each other in Zoom meetings but maybe now in person. Wait to hear from your committee chairs for more details in the coming weeks.

We are entering a critical time when the names of our endorsed candidates are part of the community conversation, and there are many ways to reach that community. If there is any way you can help, please reach out. Thank you.
