How To Propose A Resolution

A resolution is a formal expression of opinion, will, or intent voted by an official body or assembled group. It identifies a problem and proposes a solution. The solution should state how the problem will be resolved and who will act on it (see example.)

This document describes how to write and submit a resolution proposal.

Once approved, the resolution will go to the county and state Democrats to serve as input to their process.

Write The Resolution

The resolution must consist of the following sections:

  • Title -- General Description of Resolution.
  • Identify the main contact and provide his/her:
    • Name
    • Address
    • Phone Number
    • Email address
    • Statement that the contact is a registered voter and a Democrat.
The resolution body should consist of:
  • A list of reasons for proposing action (with each reason beginning with WHEREAS)
  • A list of the specific actions to be taken in response to the above reasons (with each action beginning with RESOLVED).

Submit The Resolution
