Dear Editor:

The Republicans are up to their old tricks. Nathan Jelovich's October 11th letter portrayed Roger Goodman as a one-issue candidate for 45th District State Representative. Roger's experience includes a far wider range of expertise than we usually get in a legislative candidate.

Roger's experience includes involvement with the local Lakeview and Norkirk neighborhood associations. He has led a Washington state agency. And he has served as Chief of Staff for a Member of Congress.

While on the Congressional staff, he specialized in solving transportation, energy and environmental problems. While studying for a Masters in Public Administration at the Harvard-Kennedy School, he concentrated on social policy, including education reform, public health, criminal justice and economic security. While Director of Washington's Sentencing Guidelines Commission, he proved to be tough on domestic violence; he obtained penalties for protection order violations; and he obtained enforcement funding. While working with the King County Bar Associationšs Drug Policy Project, he brought together diverse groups such as physicians, lawyers and law enforcement to achieve both accountability and treatment thereby achieving national recognition in protecting our children, improving public health, decreasing crime, and saving public tax dollars.

Don't let the opposition fool you. Roger Goodman is an accomplished, effective, multi-issue statesman. He has outstanding experience and education. Roger will be an excellent 45th District State Representative because he is the most and best qualified candidate!
