This “endorsement” sounds more like free advertising than free press. It’s reiteration of Reichert’s campaign doublespeak and Burner bashing sounds like what we have been hearing from Reichert’s campaign rather than a reasoned choice between two candidates. A newspaper has the right to print what it likes but it has a responsibility to cover the news accurately and without bias. Yes, this is the opinion section, but when even the appearance of bias can taint a news media’s reputation, it baffles me why a newspaper would participate at all in election endorsements, let alone one that disparages the opposing candidate unfairly.
